Pet of the week

TAUNTON - Moose is a male English Bulldog mix, about 11 years old. Moose was recently surrendered due to a change in living arrangements. He is a "senior" in years, but still has lots of "get up and go". He also loves to snuggle on a big bed, get covered up with a little blanket, and take an afternoon nap (don't we all?) . Due to his age, we recommend no toddlers - as they would be too active for him. Moose may be happiest as the only pet. He would be a good companion for a person of any age, and may be a perfect match for an older person who enjoys the same things: leisurely walks, afternoon naps, quiet companionship...
Shelter says, adopt a senior pet

TAUNTON - As we begin to celebrate this holiday season with family and friends, the staff and volunteers of the Taunton Animal Shelter (508-822-1463) ask that you consider adopting a senior companion animal. Many senior pets are surrendered to the shelter because their owner can no longer afford to take care of them, they need to move to an assisted living or nursing care facility, and/or their owner has passed away. Family members often have to sadly surrender these pets to a shelter. With the current economy, senior animals are losing their homes and being abandoned to the streets in greater numbers than seen in the past. Senior animals anxiously wait for their owners to return for them, and with time in the shelter environment, become sad, lonely and depressed.

BRUIN is a male Lab/Newfoundland mix, about 4 years old. Bruin is a happy and nice looking guy! He would love to be able to sit in the living room in his new home and with his new family and cheer on the hockey team, The Boston Bruins, for whom he was named! Put a Bruins bandana on him - and you won't find a better looking fan anywhere! :) We do recommend no toddlers - as they may be too active for him. He would be well suited for an active person/family - who will include him in lots of activities. A fenced yard would be ideal.
Pet of the Week: Ginger

"My name is Ginger, and I am a female DSH Tortoiseshell. I have been waiting for a long time for a home of my own. I was surrendered to the shelter when my kittens were days old. I raised them in a foster home where we received TLC; my kittens are now all safe in homes and now it is my turn. I rub and rub against my cage door, hoping that someone will come to meet me. How long will it be before I too take my ride home in a carrier? I am 2 years old."
