NORFOLK - Without the Proposition 21/2 override, the school committee is weighing options for additional budget cuts to reconcile a $148,000 shortfall.
An assistant principal, two Spanish teachers and a health teacher were already cut from the budget, and two full-time classroom teachers retired. School committee member Dean Manning told the board those positions will not be filled, affecting classroom sizes for the upcoming year. News Briefs
Teacher program to include Stony Brook
NORFOLK - Stony Brook Wildlife Sanctuary will team up with The Lloyd Center for the Environment, the Whaling Museum and the Buttonwood Park Zoo for two-week teacher workshop to help the region's teachers become more familiar with scientific concepts and the scientific inquiry process. Teachers will spend a minimum of two days at each site, participating in hands-on activities which they can bring back to their classrooms. This program will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, July 7 through Friday, July 18. Cost is $75. To learn more or to register, call 508-558-2918 or visit lloydcenter.org.
