Hockey tourney tonight
Top Headlines Defending champion King Philip Regional will try to repeat, hosting Mansfield High School in the evening's second contest, starting at 8 p.m. In a change from previous years, the next set of games will be played Monday afternoon with the consolation game at 4 p.m. and the championship final starting two hours later. The winner of the titular game will take home the coveted Sun Chronicle Holiday Tournament Trophy. An All-Tournament team will also be named at the conclusion of the championship game. As has been the case in the past, both opening-round games will also count as official league games with two Eastern Athletic Conference rivals playing in Thursday's opener, while a pair of Hockomock League entries square off in the nightcap. KP's Warriors topped Feehan's Shamrocks for all the marbles a year ago, reversing the result from the initial tournament. The Hornets, who have lost both opening rounders, have rebounded to stop Attleboro in the consolation game two straight years. To get to Alexio Rink in Taunton, take Rte. 495 South to Rte 24 South. Get off at exit 13 (Rte. 44 West) toward Taunton. Follow Rte. 44 to the third set of traffic lights (approximately 2{ miles). Take a left onto Gordon Owen Riverway, heading toward Taunton High School, and the rink is about a quarter-mile up on the left.
