BASEBALL

Brian Sankey's 4th annual `` Rock Ball'' Baseball School will have a series of three upcoming clinics. A `` spring training'' will be held April 20 and 22 for youths 5-8 from 10 a.m. until noon and those 9-14 years of age from 12:30-2:30 p.m. A `` Sunday Slugging'' camp will be held on consecutive weekends, beginning May 2 and continuing the 9th, 16th and 23rd. Youths 5-8 years of age will meet from 4-5 p.m., while those 9-14 will meet from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The `` Rock Ball'' camp is slated for June 23-25 for youths 5-8, while those 9-14 will meet June 28-July 1. Boston Amateur Baseball League: Players and teams are needed for the upcoming 2004 season. The BABL has divisions of play for over-18, over-35 and over-45 years of age; all abilities are welcome. RBI Baseball Program: The Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket announces its eighth season of RBI (Reviving Baseball in the Inner Cities). This is a competitive amateur summer league for 13-18 year olds. The league runs from June 21 through August. The registration fee is $30 for returning players, plus the $17 Boys & Girls Club membership. For new members to the league, there is a mandatory tryout. Cooperstown Tournaments: The Blue Jays Baseball Organization will be holding its fifth-annual exhibition for high school varsity and jayvee teams near the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown on April 12-18, April 24-25, May 8-9 and June 12-15. Tournaments for teams ages 11-12, 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18 will be held on Memorial Day weekend and on selected dates from July 26 to August 4. Teams can play one, two or three games. Tri-Valley Baseball Clinic: Registration is underway for the 24th season of the Tri-Valley Baseball Clinic summer program which will be held at three sites in late June and July. The program, under the direction of coach Gary Stockbridge and open to youngsters ages 8-15, will conduct two-week sessions at McCarthy Park in Medfield, Fletcher Field in Franklin and Booth Field in Foxboro. Programs will be held at the following sites and dates: Medfield (for ages 8-12): Session I June 28-July 2 and July 5-9; Session II July 12-16 and July 19-23. Coed T-Ball: The North Attleboro branch of the Hockomock Area YMCA is now accepting registrations for its coed Instructional T-Ball Leagues. The 8-week program is open to boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 8. Children will learn the basic skills of t-ball including base-running, throwing, catching and hitting in a fun, safe and pressure free environment. All practices and games will be played on Saturday mornings beginning April 17. The league will conclude with a Field Day on June 12 in which awards will be presented to all players. The North Attleboro Umpire Association is looking for people 16 and older to work as umpires for the upcoming baseball season. Summer Basketball School at Bishop Feehan: There are three weeks to choose from. Boys entering grades 5-through-9, June 28 to July 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., cost is $150. Attleboro Girls Hoop Camp registration is underway. The camp will be under the direction of Attleboro High girls' basketball coach Eric DiBiase. Week 1 of the camp will be June 28-July 2 for girls in grades 4, 5, 6 and Week 2 of the camp is slated for July 5-9 for girls in grades 7, 8, 9. The camp is a half-day session, from 8 a.m. until noon each day. Cost is $95 per week. Deadline for registration is June 11. Attleboro YMCA Spring Youth Basketball: Takes place on Saturdays through June 12. Ages 5-6 is coed from 8-9 a.m., boys ages 7-9 play is from 9-10 a.m., girls ages 7-9 from 10-11 a.m., boys ages 10-12 from 11 a.m.-noon; girls ages 10-12 noon-1 p.m.; boys 13-15 from 1-2 p.m., girls 13-15 from 2-3 p.m. The fee is $35 for members, $55 for non-members. High-Five Hoop Camp: Registration is now underway for the High Five Hoop Camp to be held in July for boys 7-15 years of age at the Attleboro YMCA. The first camp, July 12-16, is for boys 12-15 years of age, while the second camp, July 19-23, is for boys 7-11 years of age. The camp is under the direction of Attleboro High boys' varsity basketball coach Mark Houle. In its seventh season, the High Five Hoop Camp will emphasize the fundamental skills of the game, while also conducting daily scrimmages and a recreational swim period. Youth golfers to tour Great Britain: A limited number of openings are available for the summer tour to Scotland, England and Wales for high school golfers. The tour, which is conducted by Don Van Uden, head golf coach at Manchester West High School in New Hampshire, will run from July 13 to July 22. Tour golfers will get to play on some of Great Britain's most challenging courses, including St. Andrews and the Royal Hoylake Liverpool Course. The Wrentham Lions Club will hold its annual golf tournament at the Norton Country Club on Monday, May 17. Things kick off with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. with a lunch to be held at 12:30 p.m. Cost is $100 per player and that includes greens fees, carts and refreshments. HOCKEY

Attleboro YMCA Spring Inline Hockey, is played on Saturdays through June 12. Kids ages 5-6 years old play between 3-4 p.m., ages 7-9 from 4-5 p.m. and ages 10-12 from 5-6 p.m. Protective equipment is required, including a helmet with cage, mouth piece, elbow pads, protective cup, shin pads and gloves. MISCELLANEOUS

Scenic Walking: Walk in the footsteps of the Pilgrims on a 10-kilometer (6.2 miles) walk in historic Plymouth. The scenic walk is seasonal, running from April 9-November 28 during daylight hours. The start point is Wal-Mart, 381 Court Street, Plymouth. Ask for the walk box at the service desk. The walk is rated moderately easy but is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. The Strawberry Patch Run will be held on Saturday, May 1. Divisions and start times are as follows: Grades 1-2, girls and boys at 8:30 a.m.; Grades 3-4, girls and boys at 8:45 a.m.; Grades 5-8, girls and boys at 9 a.m. Girls and boys grades 1-4 will run a half-mile course. Girls and boys grades 5-8 will run a mile course. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each division (girls and boys separately) and each age group. The awards ceremony and refreshments will be after the last race. New Balance Athletic Shoes will be awarding shoes to the winners in each division. Prizes will also be raffled off. Also, awards for the first-place team in each division will be given out. Teams will be made out of three runners, from the same division, and from the same school. Official `Strawberry Patch Run' t-shirts will be given free to the first 175 entries. Entry fees are as follows: $10 or $15 the day of the race. Entry forms can be picked up at the Attleboro YMCA, 63 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA or DP Sports, Kelley Boulevard, North Attleboro, MA. All t-shirts and numbers may be picked up on Saturday, May 1 after 8 a.m. at the River Walk Park site, River Bank Road (across from the YMCA). After the race and awards ceremony, spectators and participants are encouraged to stay for the Attleboro YMCA's Healthy Kids Day from 10 a.m.-noon. SOCCER

Mansfield Youth Soccer registration for Fall 2004 session will be held Saturdays, April 10, 17, 24 and May 1 at the Plymouth Street Concession Stand. Mail-in registration can be done any time with May 1 the deadline. Child's date of birth must be before 3/1/2000 and a copy of the birth certificate is required for players who have not played MYS before. Registration forms for mail-ins may be found at the Mansfield Library or at the MYS website. Fees are $55 for one player in the family and $110 for two players in the family. Youth Indoor Soccer League: An Attleboro YMCA, coed recreational soccer league focused on skill development for kids ages 8-to-14 will meet on Sundays until April 11. Girls ages 8-10 will meet between noon and 1 p.m. while boys 8-10 will meet between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. and a coed session for kids 11-14 will meet between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Fees are $35 for Attleboro YMCA members and $55 for non-members.

The Norfolk Recreation Department is offering over-30 coed, non-competitive pickup soccer. This activity is for those over 30 who want to have some fun and exercise and is available to beginner through mid-level intermediate players. All players will rotate positions, including goalie, and substitutions will be mandated. All participants should arrive with a basic understanding of the rules and procedures, cleats, and shin guards. Cost for season: $8 for residents, $10 for non-residents. Norton Women's Over 30 Softball League Sign-ups: Are you a women over 30 looking for some fun and recreation? The Norton Women's Over 30 Softball League is looking for you! We need softball players of all skill levels that want to have fun this summer! We are a slow pitch league and you don't need to be a resident of Norton to play. Games are played Sunday mornings in Norton from May through the summer. Don't worry if you can't make every game. The league provides t-shirts, umpires and a post-season get-together as well as some equipment to use such as bats & balls. Individuals will be assigned to a team or you can put together your own team and sign-up together. Sign-ups will be held at the Norton Public Library on Saturday, April 10th from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. If you can't make it call Kelly at 508-285-3921 and a registration form will be mailed to you. SWIMMING

Adult Tennis League: The Cumberland (Rhode Island) Recreation Department is announcing a spring Adult Tennis League for men and women. Matches will be played on Sunday nights between 5-8 p.m. at Tucker Field courts. The league will begin on May 16 and run through August. Matches will be best-of-3 format.
