ATTLEBORO -- A push for a debt exclusion tax override to fund a massive high school renovation seemed to gain momentum this week, with one city official calling for a study to pin down the cost of the project and another revealing plans to explore an override with other city officials.
The price tag for the project has been estimated at between $85 million and $100 million.
Building commission Chairman Jack Jacobi said having a firm grip on cost is the first step in seeking an override, and `` building a case'' to support the temporary increase in taxes a debt exclusion override would bring, he said.
``We should probably do a feasibility study to get a real number so we know what to ask for,'' he told the building commission this week.
He wants to discuss the possibility of a study with Mayor Kevin Dumas and council President Barry LaCasse.
But Jacobi thinks the time may be right to seek an override.
