PLYMOUTH -- Jim Renner won again.
This time, though, he needed Dad's help.
Jim Renner, who dominated the four-day AAGA Open en route to winning his third title, could've been found Tuesday holding up another trophy, as he teamed up with his father John to capture the 2004 Massachusetts Father & Son Championship held at Plymouth Country Club.
The Plainville residents -- who won their club championship at Foxborough Country Club to qualify for the state tournament -- shot a blistering 5-under-par 64, which was some three shots better than runner-ups Tony and Frank Messina.
`` We were looking forward to it,'' said John Renner, who opted to skip out on the AAGA Open and instead take a day out of work to play with his son in Tuesday's event.
`` We played well today, we had a good showing.''
It marks the first time the Renners have ever won the event and the second time they have played in it, the last time being four years ago.
Just like he did at the AAGA Open, where he led by eight shots after the first day of action en route to winning the tournament by a whopping 18 strokes, Jim -- along with his father -- got off to another fast start.
Making birdies on each of the first three holes, the Renner tandem finished with five on the front-nine alone, not to mention only one bogey, for a 4-under 30 at the halfway mark.
