FOOTBALL
Officiating Classes, MIFOA will be holding classes for new candidates desiring to be high school football officials. Classes will be held on Wednesday nights (Sept. 8-Oct. 20) at 7 p.m. at the Mansfield Elks; for more information call 508-339-5794 or 781-718-7575 or visit www.mifoa.org; cost for the class is $25.
Officiating Classes, Southeastern Massachusetts Football Officials Association will conduct instructional classes for anyone interested in becoming a football official. The classes will begin on Wednesday evening, Aug. 25 and continue every Wednesday night in preparation for a written exam which will be given in mid-October. The classes will meet at the PACC Hall, 175 School Street in Taunton at 7:15 p.m. Contact Eric Peterson at 508-674-0011 for more information.
GOLF
The `Budgie Campbell Open' golf tournament, sponsored by the Gridiron Club of Mansfield, to benefit the Mansfield High School football program, Friday, Aug. 20 at Firefly Country Club in Seekonk; breakfast will be at 10:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at noon; entry fee of $125 per person includes breakfast, golf with cart, dinner (surf-and-turf), contests and prizes; for more information call Tom Faria at 508-339-3420.

MISCELLANEOUS
Scenic Walking: Walk in the footsteps of the Pilgrims on a 10-kilometer (6.2 miles) walk in historic Plymouth. The scenic walk is seasonal, running through Nov. 28 during daylight hours. The start point is Wal-Mart, 381 Court Street, Plymouth. Ask for the walk box at the service desk. The walk is rated moderately easy but is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs. CARD SHOW: Boston Bruins Hall of Famers Brad Park and Gerry Cheevers will be signing autographs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Big Sports Card Show, which will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22 at the Mansfield Holiday Inn. Buy-sell-trade old and new cards and memorabilia. There will be 44 vendors and free hourly door prizes. Autographs are $9 each and admission is $1.
SOCCER
Player's Choice pick-up game for women 25-over, every Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Pawtucket YMCA Soccer: Registration for the fall youth soccer league run by the Pawtucket Family YMCA and MacColl Field YMCA is now being accepted. The league is divided into four age groups: ages 4/5; ages 6/7; ages 8/9; and ages 10/12. Boys and girls of all levels of ability are welcome. Practice will begin the week of Sept. 5. Games will be played on Saturdays from Sept. 25 to Oct. 23. Children ages 4 and 5 will practice on Saturdays from 10--10:45 a.m. or 11--11:45 a.m. Parents who have a child in this age group, must participate with the child. Children ages 6 and 7 will practice on Tuesdays from 6--6:45 p.m.; ages 8 and 9 will practice on Wednesdays from 6--6:45 p.m. and ages 10 to 12 will practice on Thursdays from 6--6:45 p.m. Games and practices are held at the MacColl Field YMCA. The cost to register is $40 for YMCA Members and $60 for YMCA Participants. After Aug. 16, an additional $10 registration fee will be charged. All players must purchase their own shin-guards prior to their first practice. Shirts, shorts and socks are included in the fee. SWIMMING
Open weekly Masters swimming workouts at Wheaton College; Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7:45-9 p.m., and Saturday mornings from 8:30-10 a.m.; Sessions can be coached and/or videotaped; call Bella Marlow, Wheaton Aquatic Director, at 508-286-3989 for more information.
TENNIS
Attleboro Recreation is offering a free children's singles tennis tournament to be held on Wednesday, August 18 at 4 p.m. at the Attleboro High School tennis courts. Players ages 8-11 will participate in a round-robin event while players ages 12-15 will take part in tournament play (match play) and single elimination (singles only) events. Participants must know tennis rules and scoring and are urged to bring a can of tennis balls. To register call the Attleboro Recreation Department at 508-223-2222, ext. 3320.
VOLLEYBALL
Wrentham Volleyball, all men and women of high school age and older are invited to play volleyball on Wednesday evenings at 6:15; people will be playing outside all summer behind King Philip Regional High School in Wrentham, 201 Franklin St. (Route 140); for more information, contact Ken Graves at 508-384-8084 or ken.graves(at)gravesfa.org.
TENNIS
