Homeowners to pay
ATTLEBORO -- Soaring home prices will push the city's residential property taxes up and its business taxes down, City Assessor Stanley Nacewicz said after new property values were released Wednesday.
Preliminary estimates put the residential tax increase at about 8 percent, or $227 for the average homeowner, while a 9 percent decrease in taxes is expected for businesses.
Overall, residential values, which are based on sale prices, increased an average of about 48 percent since property was last revalued in 2001.
