NORTH ATTLEBORO -- A budget brawl could be brewing between the school committee and the finance committee Monday at special town meeting.
The school department plans to request $270,000 it says is needed to fill seven positions cut from its budget this year, even though it did not win the finance committee's endorsement for the proposal.
The school department says the money would be used to restore six teaching and one technology technician position, and to replace $50,000 cut from the athletic budget and $80,000 cut from the supplies budget.
The finance committee, which makes the first motion on town meeting floor, recommends that only $130,000 be given to the school department.
