NORTH ATTLEBORO -- The girls' basketball teams from Mansfield High School and Bishop Feehan High School are getting in the habit of staging barnburners.

In their first meeting since they clashed in the MIAA Division 2-South Tournament semifinals in March, with Feehan emerging the victor by the narrow margin of two points, the Shamrocks and Hornets put on another good show Monday in the opening round of the 27th annual Attleboro Area Girls' Holiday Tournament.

This time it took overtime to settle the issue, with the Shamrocks hitting all three of their shots in the extra session -- and then surviving a three-point attempt to tie by Mansfield's Katie Higgins that clanged off the rim as time expired -- to take a 46-43 triumph at the Ken Pickering Gym.

Feehan (3-0) will now get a chance to defend its tournament championship against host North Attleboro, a 52-33 victor over Attleboro in the nightcap, at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.

`` It's a good win for us,'' Feehan coach Mike Deady said. `` Mansfield is a team that will probably be a pretty high seed (in the MIAA Tournament).'' Mansfield led 39-35 with 1:57 left in regulation as Kate Higgins put in the rebound of a missed three-pointer by her sister, Erin. But after nearly a minute of dueling turnovers, Feehan forced overtime when senior center Stephanie Fontaine (16 points, 10 rebounds) scored on a rebound with 41.2 seconds left, then Gina Cosimano (10 points, five assists) converted Kelley Richardson's halfcourt steal with a layup with 18.3 seconds left.

True to the frustration that Mansfield coach Mike Redding felt afterward, the Hornets (3-2) had two chances to win in the last nine seconds -- first an under-the-basket shot by Kelly Regan that missed its mark, then Erin Higgins' off-target rebound at the buzzer.
