BASEBALL

Clinic offered: The Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket will be hosting the third annual RBI Winter Baseball Clinic on Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Wheeler School Field House in Seekonk. This clinic is a one-day clinic for players ages 13-18 and will take place from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost is $85 per participant. Warrior Winter Hits: Cincinnati Reds scout and Seekonk High baseball coach Jim Pereira has announced that the Warrior Winter Hits Baseball Clinic will be held at Seekonk High on Jan. 16, 2005. The camp is for players ages 7-18 and will run from 9 a.m.-noon for Little Leaguers and from 1-4 p.m. for high school athletes. Cost is $50. Youth Tournaments: Registration is under way for a pair of youth tournaments. There are openings for Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 girls teams in the eighth annual Worcester Shootout, which will be held Feb. 19, 20 and 21 at Assumption College in Worcester. Boys and girls teams in Grades 5, 6, 7 and 8 are eligible for the fifth annual Spring Hoops Tournament, to be held in Medway during the weekend of March 19-20. Travel teams, CYO/YMCA teams and school teams are eligible for both tournaments while AAU teams are not. All teams entered play a minimum of three games and players on championship teams receive trophies. Reduced-rate hotel accommodations are available for teams and families to stay overnight. 14th Annual Attleboro Hoop Tournament: Will be held Feb. 16-26 at Designated Attleboro schools, including Attleboro High School, Hyman Fine, Studley, Hill Roberts, Wamsutta, Brennan, Thacher and Coelho. Games will be weekday evenings from 5-8:30 p.m. and weekends 8:30 a.m. -9 p.m. Each team is guaranteed three games. The boys' division will feature teams in Grades 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 while the girls' division will have a combined Grades 4-5 team and teams in Grades 6, 7 and 8. No AAU or regional teams are allowed. FIELD HOCKEY

Foxboro Junior High Field Hockey: Foxboro Recreation has developed an introduction field hockey program for girls grades 5-8. Players will develop skills, stick and techniques as well as game strategies. The Recreation Department's goals for this program are to establish a competitive Junior High team for the fall of 2005, establish a feeder program for FHS and create more opportunities for female athletes. FOOTBALL

The Bay State Warriors women's professional football team will hold open tryouts on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005 from noon until 2 p.m. at the Medford High School Gymnasium in Medford. Arrive at 11:30 a.m. to allow time for registration. Visit the website (www.baystatewarriors.com) to fill out a Pre-Registration form. Tryouts are open to the public, women over the age of 18 are encouraged to attend. The tryout will consist of drills that test strength, agility, and speed. The tryout fee is $35 and is nonrefundable. The tryout will be held indoors so wear appropriate attire and bring sneakers.

HOCKEY

Learn to play: Bay State Hockey has registration for its Late Starter Learn to Play Hockey Program, at the Veteran's Arena in Franklin. Class takes place on Saturday mornings from 9-9:50 a.m. Feb. 5-April 5, open to skaters ages 10-15; Each player receives an official practice jersey. Player's Choice pick-up game for women 25-over, every Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

The Tidal Wave Soccer club Boys U12 team is seeking players to fill its roster. The team's home field is Bliss Field in Rehoboth and the team competes in the MAPLE during the fall and spring of 2005. During the winter the team will continue to train at least once per week and play Indoor Soccer in a U12 division. The team will also participate in regional/national tournaments. King Philip Soccer Association registration for U13, U14, U16 and U18 travel program has just been opened and players from Norfolk, Plainville and Wrentham are eligible. The forms are available in the KP Middle School office and in the town libraries. E-mail any questions to info(at)kpsoccer. Registration forms can also be obtained at the KPSA web site: www.kpsoccer.org. All registration packets should include: a completed & signed form, payment and a copy of the birth certificate for any new players. Forms must be sent to the KPSA post office box indicated on the form. Once rosters are filled, late registrants will be wait listed. According to Bays requirements players will be designated: U18 if they were born on or after 8/[6; U16 if they were born on or after 8/[8; U14 if they were born on or after 8/1/90; U13 if they were born on or after 8/1/91.

The Attleboro Youth Soccer Spring 2005 BAYS travel team is currently taking registrations. Registration fees are $70 per individual and $105 per family up until Jan. 3, 2005, when the fees increase to $85 per individual and $120 per family. Deadline for registration is Feb. 2.
