NORTH ATTLEBORO -- The Rocketeers of North Attleboro were hanging in there.

They didn't make a shot from the floor over the final four minutes of the first half, but still trailed by just seven points at intermission.

Five minutes into the second half, the Rocketeers were making a few defensive stops, fetching a few rebounds and making a few shots, enough to trail the Panthers of Franklin High by nine.

Then over the next five minutes, the Rocketeers forgot how to defend, were unable to make any shots and surrendered space in the paint for rebounds.

The result was an 18-4 surge by the Franklin High boys' basketball team and a 60-42 loss for North Attleboro in the consolation round of the 29th annual Holiday Tournament.
Nine Panthers got into the scoring act, with Tom Powers scoring 15 points, All Tournament Team member Jeff Macchi having 10 points and six rebounds and Jake Dellorco having 10 points.

`` We played good defense and we played hard,'' said Franklin coach Dean O'Connor, whose Panthers improved to 4-2. `` We made some shots too.''

Powers drained a three-point field goal to ignite a run of seven straight Panther points for a 46-30 lead with nine minutes left.

Then Franklin's Nick Davis hit a trifecta and Dellorco hit a pair of short jumpers during an 11-2 run by the Panthers for an insurmountable 57-34 lead with just under five minutes to go.
