Pats still hot
Top Headlines Two Super Bowl champi onships in the last three years have not reduced the demand for team merchandise, man ager Scott Chamberlain says. Fans have stocked up on sweatshirts and other winter wear, as well as jerseys, this week, several local sporting good store managers say. The Patriots host the Indi anapolis Colts in Sunday's AFC divisional playoff game at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. Kickoff is 4:45 p.m. (CBS-TV, Channels 4 and 12). `` I'd say the excitement level is as high as it's been the last few years,'' Chamberlain says. `` I don't think we're in that Yankee mentality yet, where it's just another championship.'' Chamberlain said his store has ordered extra merchandise to meet the demand. Olympia Sports in North Attleboro has seen sales increase as this weekend approached, store manager Mike Scott says. Sales are running about the same as during the 2002 and 2004 Super Bowl seasons, he says. A new line of women's clothing is selling quite well. `` I think they've always been there,'' Scott says of female football fans. `` Now we're noticing it more.'' Replica jerseys of running back Corey Dillon and other players are selling consistently, too. Jerseys are the top seller at Dick's Sporting Goods in North Attleboro, store manager Dean Hirtle says. `` All of the big names -- (Tedy) Bruschi is big, Dillon is big,'' Hirtle says. A big sales boost will come as the Patriots advance through the playoffs, he says. `` What we're going to sell is the AFC championship stuff. What we have now is generic,'' Hirtle says. `` Everybody wants the fresh stuff that has the dates on it.''
