Wild weather

After a day of being enveloped in thick fog, local residents saw some more of that and, then, for variety's sake, just about every other weather condition New England could produce.

In the afternoon, the area got fog, heavy rain, sleet, high winds and temperatures that plummeted from spring-like to near freezing.

The high temperature Friday of 64 degrees at 10 a.m. tied the record high for the date set in 1995, according to the Attleboro Water Department, which has been keeping records since 1938. Temperatures dipped into the 20s Friday night, but nowhere near the record minus-9 set in 1988.

Along with the temperature plunge, the wind was a dominating force Friday, kicking in around midnight and lasting through most of the day.
