Bitter finale for BC
Top Headlines ``We have to get our edge back or we'll be one and done in the tournament,'' proclaimed Boston College basketball coach Al Skinner, whose No. 1-seeded, regular-season Big East champions were blown off of the floor at MSG, 78-72 by the Mountaineers of West Virginia on Thursday. Facing a 22-point halftime deficit and a 25-point early second-half deficit, the Eagles (24-4) reduced that to four points (62-58) with just under five minutes left. ``That's the longest 20 minutes of some of our lives,'' said WVA coach John Beilein. ``We imploded there for I don't know how long.'' West Virginia took just 14 shots from the floor during the second half, the Mountaineers making just five and going for better than an 11-minute span without making one. ``There's no way that you can afford to give up that many points,'' said Skinner. ``I haven't thought about that other (ACC) stuff, I have too much on my mind right now. I'm still worried about what this team wants to achieve.'' After winning its first 20 games of the season, nine in the Big East, the No. 5 ranked Eagles, have lost two of their last three games, including a 22-point loss at Pittsburgh.
