BASEBALL

AHS Clinic Slated: Attleboro High baseball coach Matt Bosh will be holding the first Bombardier Baseball Clinic, which will be held on Saturday, March 19 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The clinic, for players in grades 3-8, will focus on basic fundamentals, including hitting, fielding, base-running, pitching and catching, and will be under the guise of the AHS coaching staff and guest coaches. Wrentham Recreation Pitching Clinic: Will be held Monday through Friday, March 14-18, at the King Philip High School Gymnasium. The camp, which is under the guise of KP varsity baseball coach Ed Moran and Recreation Director Jeff Plympton, will be held 3:30-4:30 p.m. each day. Warrior Pitching and Catching Clinic: Seekonk High baseball coach Jim Pereira will be running the Warrior Pitching and Catching Clinic on five consecutive Saturdays at Seekonk High, running through March 12. The camp is for players ages 7-18 and runs from 9 a.m.-noon for Little Leaguers and from 1-4 p.m. for high school athletes. Cost is $100. Rock-Ball Baseball School will be holding multiple baseball clinics this spring hosted by Brian Sankey (former Los Angeles Dodger minor leaguer and current North Attleboro High varsity coach). Spring Training I will be held on four Sundays, March 6, 13, 20 & 27 indoors in the NAHS gym. Ages 5-9 from 4-5 p.m. and ages 10-14 from 5-6 p.m. Spring Training II will be during school vacation week on April 20 and 22. Ages 5-9 from 10 a.m.-noon and ages 10-14 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday Slugging will be held on four Sundays, May 1, 8, 15 & 22. Attleboro Spring Basketball: The Attleboro YMCA is taking registration for its spring basketball league, which is available for youths ages 5-15, both boys and girls. Cost of the program is $40 for members and $64 for non-members. Games will be played on Saturday afternoons. The age groups are 5&6 co-ed, with games scheduled at 11 a.m. or Noon on Saturday depending on the number of players. Ages 7&8 co-ed will play at 1 p.m. Ages 9&10 will play games at 2 or 3 p.m. Both groups will practice for a half hour and then play a game for the second half hour. Schedules will be given out once registration is complete and teams are formed. For the older age groups the Y will be trying a new format. Teams will be formed, and will be given one night a week to practice, which will be determined by the team's coach. Games will be played on Saturdays until April vacation, when the league champions will be awarded trophies. Wrentham Recreation Skills Program: The Wrentham Recreation Basketball Skills Program for first and second graders is a 6-week program running through March 19. The program is for boys and girls in the first and second grade and emphasizes instruction of various skills such as passing, dribbling and shooting. The program will be held at King Philip North Middle School on Saturdays, first grade from 9-9:50 a.m. and second grade 10-10:50 a.m. Cost is $45 per player. TEN-STAR ALL-STAR CAMP: Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten-Star All-Star Summer Basketball camp. The camp is by invitation only. 91st Annual First Student Invitational Basketball Tournament: The tournament will take place at the Alfred Elson Jr. Gym in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. It will begin on March 19 and continue until March 26. There will be six divisions for the boys, 10 & under, 11 & under, 12 & under, 14 & under, 16 & under, and an `` open division,'' open to all boys in high school. For the girls there will be three divisions, 12 & under, 14 & under, and 16 & under. Entry fee is $80.00 per team or $65.00 per team for two or more teams entered. GOLF

The Foxboro Knights of Columbus and St. Mary's Lifeteen will co-sponsor a golf tournament to support the teens who wish to attend World Youth Day in Germany with Pope John Paul in August. The tournament will be held on Sunday, June 5, at the Easton Country Club. A special prize drawing will be held for early registration. SK8 Nite 4 Kids: This is a first-annual all-night event to help raise money to fight cancer. SOCCER

Player's Choice pick-up game for women 25-over, every Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

King Philip Soccer Association registration for U13, U14, U16 and U18 travel program has just been opened and players from Norfolk, Plainville and Wrentham are eligible. The forms are available in the KP Middle School office and in the town libraries. E-mail any questions to info(at)kpsoccer. Registration forms can also be obtained at the KPSA web site: www.kpsoccer.org. All registration packets should include: a completed & signed form, payment and a copy of the birth certificate for any new players. Forms must be sent to the KPSA post office box indicated on the form. Once rosters are filled, late registrants will be wait listed. According to Bays requirements players will be designated: U18 if they were born on or after 8/[6; U16 if they were born on or after 8/[8; U14 if they were born on or after 8/1/90; U13 if they were born on or after 8/1/91.

SOFTBALL

Hebronville Men's League: The Hebronville Men's Softball League is accepting teams and players for the 2005 spring/summer season. Pre-dusk games are held Sunday through Friday at Hebronville, Field in Attleboro as well as the field in the Texas Instruments complex, and night games are played under the lights at Hebronville Field on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The HMSL is a competitive slow-pitch softball league currently affiliated with USSSA. The season is tentatively scheduled to start April 17 and playoffs should end before Labor Day.

Mansfield Girls Softball Association will hold a General Meeting on Wednesday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. in room 101 at Mansfield High School. All coaches and assistant coaches should plan to attend. All other parents and volunteers are welcome to attend also. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an overview of the 2005 season and to review key changes and new policies.
