PLAINVILLE -- Officials at Plainridge Racecourse say the Route 1 harness racing track will close if a bill to extend simulcasting is not passed by the end of the year, a prospect that could cost the town a half-million dollars a year in revenue.

`` We have a bar, but who's going to go to a racetrack just to have a drink?'' he said.
