Couple arraigned
ATTLEBORO -- Husband and wife officers of the high school band parents association stole thousands of dollars from the organization because of financial difficulties compounded by the wife's compulsive gambling, a prosecutor alleged Tuesday.
Neil Forget, 33, and his pregnant wife, Angela, 34, were two months behind on their rent and were preparing to move to Illinois, Angela Forget's native state, Assistant District Attorney Thomas Doyle said.
Instead, the couple, who live at 23 Keith Drive, was ordered held in jail, each in lieu of $2,000 cash bail.
They declined comment as they were led in handcuffs into a sheriff's van. Neil Forget was expected to post bail.
Neil Forget was president of the Attleboro High School Band Parents Association and Angela Forget was treasurer. They are accused of stealing up to $13,500 from the organization.
Angela Forget has admitted to police to taking the money, and has promised to make `` full restitution,'' her lawyer, Paul Carlucci of Franklin, said during a bail hearing Tuesday in Attleboro District Court.
Neil Forget claims to have been unaware of his wife's alleged gambling problem, said his lawyer, Scott Young of North Attleboro.
