Suspect in scam turns herself in

BOSTON -- An Attleboro woman charged in connection with an alleged pyramid scheme that swindled hundreds of Cambodian immigrants turned herself in to federal authorities and is being held pending a preliminary hearing Monday.
Seng Tan, listed in court documents as chief executive officer of World Marketing Direct Selling, is one of three company officials charged in the alleged investment scam that may have netted millions of dollars from Cambodian-Americans.
Samantha Martin of the U.S. Attorney's office in Boston said Tan turned herself in late Tuesday afternoon to Magistrate Judge Robert B. Collings. She is being held pending a detention hearing Monday.
