ATTLEBORO -- A mattress that ignited when a 6year-old boy was playing with a cigarette lighter Friday morning caused $20,000 in damage to a three-story tenement, fire officials said.

The fire was reported about 7:30 a.m. in the boy's second-floor bedroom at 22 Carpenter St., Deputy Fire Chief Erik Guillette said.

The fire was ruled accidental, and no one was injured, Guillette said.
