ATTLEBORO — The Attleboro High boys’ basketball team might not win another game this season in as determined a style and manner as it did Friday against the Hilltoppers of Durfee High.
The Bombardiers’ third straight victory might be the best that they will have taken of any this season, a dramatic 73-68 verdict — in overtime — over the Hilltoppers.
Jason Patterson knocked down five three-point field goals and finished with 22 points for Attleboro, but it was way more than the senior guard’s play which corner-stoned the drama.
How about senior guard Wes Pondolfino (seven points, six assists) knocking down the go-ahead three-point field goal from the right corner with 1:12 left in overtime.
How about senior forward Matt Farmer knocking down a 12-foot jumper from the left baseline with 25 seconds left in regulation time which knotted the score at 64-all and forced overtime — right after he scored out of a loose ball situation with 46 seconds to go.
How about junior guard Patrick Bou (five assists) setting up both Patterson for the go-ahead basket in overtime and Pondolfino’s game-winner.
How about senior center-forward Brian Armitage scoring a season-high 12 points, bulldozing his way for eight points in the first four minutes of the second half to go along with five rebounds.
How about the Bombardiers rallying from a 63-56 deficit with 1:47 remaining on the clock.
