BASEBALL
Rhode Island Tides AAU Baseball Club will be conducting an advanced fundamentals program for players ages 10-12. The Junior Tides will operate on the weekends beginning in March and finish early in the summer. Players will receive 10 indoor sessions and 20 outdoor sessions. Attleboro Youth Baseball Registration: Continues Wednesday, Jan. 11 at The Armory on Pine Street from 6-8 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 14 at The Armory from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.; Eligible kids must be between ages 6-and-15, as of April 30, 2006; Any questions call the league hotline at 508-222-0200.
Attleboro YMCA: 14th annual baseball clinic, Sunday, Jan. 29 from noon-2 p.m.; youths ages six through high school; Clinic under the guise of Boston Red Sox pitching coach Dave Wallace, along with former pitcher Ken Ryan and other high school coaches; techniques covered are pitching, catching, hitting and fielding; participants asked to bring baseball glove, sneakers and appropriate workout attire; space is limited to the first 50 who sign up; cost is $7 for Attleboro YMCA members and $12 for non-members. Pawtucket Fall Ball: Winter clinic to be held Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Wheeler School Field House in Seekonk; 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. for ages 12-18, with lunch; Fielding, hitting, pitching catching and base-running to be covered; All participants receive T-shirt, video tape and evaluation form; cost is $80; Instructors include Stephen Rodrigues (NY Yankees); Todd Carroll (Harvard), Jay Grenier (RIC), Chris Iannetta (Rockies), Mike Watkins (Nationals) plus many more local college and high school coaches.
