Stranger danger
NORTON -- Strangers -- who they are and how to confront them -- was just one safety topic presented to elementary school students in town this week, even if it might have been the only topic on some of their parents' minds.
Following the reported abduction and subsequent release of a 10-year-old girl from her garage on a quiet neighborhood cul-de-sac on Monday, kindergartners and students in grades 1 through 4 attended an already-scheduled visit on Wednesday from `` Officer Phil,'' a yearly safety program run in cooperation with the Norton Police Department.
Although not held in direct response to the reported kidnapping, in which the girl was released unharmed, more focus was put on stranger safety at the request of school administrators.
