FOXBORO -- Virginia Coppola's hometown came through for her Tuesday, handing her the state representative seat formerly held by her late husband Michael Coppola.
Coppola carried Foxboro 1,606 to 1,091, negating the small advantage opponent Claire Naughton held in the Norton and Mansfield portions of the district.
Voter turnout was also heavier in Foxboro -- 27 percent -- compared with 13.5 percent in the Mansfield precincts, and 14 percent in the Norton section of the district
The finally tally in the special election was 2,432 to 1,959 for the Republican Coppola over the Democrat Naughton.
`` I'm very happy,'' Coppola said after the results came in. `` The results show people think I can do the job and they have confidence in me.''
