Gas prices rise in area

Gasoline prices in Massachusetts have risen an average of 10 cents for the second straight week, and are now 39 cents higher than at the start of the year, according to AAA Southern New England.

AAA's weekly survey found self-serve regular averaging $2.61 per gallon, 20 cents more than the price two weeks ago. A year ago, the average price was $2.16.

Prices this week ranged from $2.49 to $2.75.

Prices are up across all grades of self and full-serve gasoline, AAA said.

Self-serve mid-grade averaged $2.72; self-serve premium grade averaged $2.82.
