Police identify city body

SUN CHRONICLE STAFF

ATTLEBORO -- Police on Saturday identified a 50-year-old man they believe to be homeless who was found dead by friends Friday morning in a wooded area off the downtown commuter rail parking lot as Glenn McComiskey.

McComiskey's body was discovered by two homeless men who were friends of his just before 8 a.m. on Friday. They declined to comment when approached by The Sun Chronicle.

McComiskey was known to stay in the area, and his friends came by to look for cans and check on him, Detective Lt. John Otrando said. The two homeless men initially thought McComiskey was sleeping, and called 911 when they realized he was dead, Otrando said.

McComiskey had been dead for at least a day, or possibly a few days, Otrando said. His friends last spoke to him last Saturday, he said. McComiskey's body was taken to Boston by the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy, Otrando said.

Police have not yet released the cause of death.

Otrando said McComiskey's death did not appear suspicious and there was no obvious trauma to his body.

However, McComiskey's death remains under investigation by detectives Alex Aponte and Russell Castro, Otrando said.
