ATTLEBORO -- Police are searching for a man who robbed the Attleboro Shell gas station on South Avenue at Lathrop Drive early Monday morning and have released surveillance photographs to try to identify him.
The robber fled the station around 1:30 a.m. with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen running east on South Avenue (Route 123) toward County Square, police said.
A sweatshirt and pants believed to have been worn by the robber were found on Thacher Street (Route 123) and Rathbun Willard Drive, about a quarter mile from the robbery scene.
Detective Russell Castro said the man entered the 24-hour gas station and asked the clerk for a pack of cigarettes before handing her a $10 bill and demanding cash.
`` He threatened to shoot the clerk if she didn't give him the cash,'' Castro said.
No weapon was shown.
The man was described as a white male, about 5-feet 5-inches or 5-feet 6-inches tall. He wore a dark hooded sweatshirt with a logo, black pants and white sneakers.
Anyone with any information is urged to call police at 508-222-1259.
The robbery is under investigation by Castro and Officer Craig Fonseca. |
