Brown to take reins at Invensys

FOXBORO -- Ken Brown, a Foxboro-based executive with Invensys Process Systems, will take over leadership of the company following the sudden resignation of President Mike Caliel.

The technology and automation company, formerly the Foxboro Company, announced Wednesday that Brown, a 14-year veteran, had been named interim president.

The company manufactures technology used in the chemical, oil and gas, refining, power, pulp and paper and pharmaceuticals businesses.

Caliel, who lives in the Houston area, resigned to take a new job with an electrical services company near his hometown.

The executive, who was named to head the Process Systems group in 2003, was widely credited for accelerated growth at Invensys. The resignation came only a short time after the introduction of Invensys' much-ballyhooed InFusion enterprise control system, billed as the company's most significant product introduction since its Intelligent Automation series debuted in 1987.

During his time at the helm, Caliel helped weld varied business segments into a unified enterprise.

The Process Systems group delivered $1.3 billion in revenue in fiscal 2006, according to the industry publication Managing Automation, up 18 percent over the previous year.
