LETTER: Happiness, oil prices and the war in Iraq

To the editor: Re: letters to the editor of July 9:

First to Harold Crowell, have you ever seen or heard of same-sex marriages breaking up a happily married couple? A church on Pleasant Street, Attleboro, once had on the bulletin board outside the church: `` A marriage is the union between two happy people.''

Secondly, I applaud John Corvese for his research on global warming and the ANWAR legislation that has been beaten down by the Republican house and senate since 1994. Again, I mention the fact that no new refineries have been built in America. Why build new refineries when all it would take is to open up those shuttered refineries (215 of them) that made the profits go up as the gas supply goes down and CEO compensation goes through the roof.

And don't forget that this illegal invasion started on March 19, 2003, and it was never mentioned that we are addicted to oil until the supply was disrupted by hurricanes Katrina and Rita on Sept 26, 2005, by our wartime president.

Hooray for Bill Gallant's condemnation of Ann Coulter's moronic book about the widows of Sept. 11, 2001. Believe what you may, but the facts are there that Sept.11, 2001 could have been prevented had only Condoleezza Rice thought to give the alert to the Federal Aviation Administration and airlines of a possible attack that was available in the Presidential daily briefing Aug. 6, 2001.
