LETTER: Under this logic, oust senators, too

To the editor: I found the letter `` Diverse district deserves diverse repre sentation'' sadly ironic. In it, Joseph Solis basically states that Republican representa tives John Lepper and Betty Poirier have voted similarly 96 percent of the time over the last three years and that the topics of those votes have been so diverse that `` two smart indi viduals could not possibly agree on all of them.''

He states that `` diversity amongst our brightest thinkers in this country have made it what it is today.'' He then urges us to vote for someone new. One would hope that he could make the leap from local reps to our national representatives.

Over the last 21 years our two male Democrat senators have voted similarly approxi mately 99 percent of the time. Using his logic, shouldn't they too be removed from office? They lack such diversity that both of their last names begin with the same two letters.

That fact alone should be reason for removal in such a `` diverse'' state as Massachu setts.

Isn't it amazing that those who tout `` diversity'' believe they can define it anyway that suits them? Tom Wikiera, North Attleboro
