Elizabeth Frances `` Betty'' Cairns, 90

WRENTHAM -- Elizabeth Frances `` Betty'' Cairns, 90, of East Street, Wrentham, died on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006 at the Serenity Hill Nursing Home in Wrentham.

She was the widow of Robert H. Cairns who predeceased her on Aug. 7, 1996.

Born in Wrentham on June 4, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Sara (Bliek) Peck. She was a graduate of the former Wrentham Centre School class of 1934. A retired self employed insurance agent, she had operated the business out of her Wrentham home. She worked for a number of years in the cafeteria at the King Philip Regional High School and had previously owned and operated a hairdressing shop in Foxboro.

Active in town and civic affairs, she is well known for her presence at the elections where she had been a teller for many years. An always willing volunteer, she had worked in the gift shop of the former Southwood Community Hospital in Norfolk and at the Wrentham Senior Center, where she manned the phone for the senior assurance line.

She was a member of the Saint Mary's Women's Club, and a former member of the Sohoanno Garden Club in Wrentham.

She was the loving mother of Roberta A. E. Cairns of Wrentham, and was the dear extended family member to Carl and Sandra Fumarola, their children Theresa and Philip Matyi, Carl E. and Kristin Fumarola, and Theresa and Phil's children Jake and Nicholas Fumarola.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South St., Route 1A, Wrentham Centre, on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 140 South St., Route 1A, Wrentham Centre.

Burial will follow in the Wrentham Centre Cemetery.
