Ramiro J. Ferreira Sr., 88

ATTLEBORO -- Ramiro J. Ferreira Sr., 88, of Tanglewood Drive, Attleboro, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of 56 years of Maria (Santos) Ferreira.

Born in St. Michael, Azores on March 26, 1918, Mr. Ferreira was a son of the late Jose J. and Maria Helena (Cabral) Ferreira. He settled in Attleboro in 1970.

Mr. Ferreira was employed for over 10 years as a solderer at the former Finberg Company located on Park Street in Attleboro, retiring in 1983. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of the Portuguese American Club, both in Attleboro, and enjoyed playing checkers, dominos and cards.

In addition to his beloved wife, Maria, Mr. Ferreira is survived by two sons, Ramiro J. Ferreira Jr. and his wife, Dianne of Taunton and Frank J. Ferreira and his wife, Lori of Cranston, R.I.; three daughters, Helen Correia and her husband, Mariano of Attleboro, Maria Pimentel and her husband, John of Attleboro and Maria Pacheco and her husband, Manuel of Attleboro; two sisters, Maria Melo and Maria Luisa Joquim, both of Canada; 15 grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Gilda Olivera, Albertina Araujo, Joao Ferreira, Antonio Ferreira, Jose Ferreira and Manuel Ferreira.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2006 from 2 p.m.--4 p.m. and 6 p.m.-- 8 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro.

A funeral will be conducted on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006 at 8 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro celebrated by the Rev. Ronald Coyne. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, West Street, Attleboro.
