Muriel Joyce Dunn
BRISTOL, R.I. -- Muriel Joyce Dunn peacefully passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.
Born in New York City on~Oct. 23, 1917, she had lived in Norfolk, Va., Cleveland, Ohio and Bristol/Warren, R.I.~
She was the daughter of the late Marie Cassidy Malabre and Reginald Grantley Narelle.
Her former husband was the late Mahlon H. Dunn Jr.
She was the granddaughter of a very famous singer from Australia, Marie Narelle, Queen of Irish Songs, who recorded for Thomas Edison.~
~She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Blossom Gorodetsky and her husband Sanford H. Gorodetsky of Warren, R.I. She also leaves three brothers: Alfred Malabre Jr. of Quag, Long Island, N.Y., Grant Narelle of Virginia Beach, Va. and Brian Narelle of Rohenert, Calif.; and a sister, Doreen N. Harris of Virginia Beach, Va. She was the sister of the late Reginald Grantley Callaghan `` Clyde'' Murray of NSW Australia.
~`` Joycie'' was the grandmother of Robin Blossom of Pawtucket, and Christopher Perry Blossom of Gates Mills, Ohio. She leaves three great-grandchildren.
~She was a past honorary board member of the Sloane-Kettering Hospital of NYC.
An enthusiastic pilot in her early days and an~avid reader in the recent years, she had worked as a model for B. Altman's Department Store, and was the sales representative for the Norfolk Oil Transportation Company.
~A Celebration of Her Life will be held Saturday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Martin's Church, Providence.

Bette A. Chase, 66
HULL -- Bette A. Chase, 66, of Hull, formerly of Attleboro, passed away at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006. She was the beloved spouse of Mary Ellen Sweeney.
Born in Boston, she was the devoted daughter of the late Silas K. and Ann (Woodward) Chase. She was raised and educated in Attleboro.
She graduated from Attleboro High School in 1958. She also graduated from Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island, and the North Bennet Street School in the North End.
Bette worked for many years as a draftsperson, and then as a computer programmer at Texas Instruments. In later years, she worked as a programmer analyst for Cumberland Farms, Monet and most recently, Pioneer Investment Management. She retired in 2004.
Bette was an amateur cellist and played in the Quincy Symphony, the Chaminade Opera Group and other orchestras over the years.
She made fine furniture and bird carvings. She also had a private pilot's license, and enjoyed mountain climbing, bicycling, and cross-country skiing. Bette loved nature and the study of it, especially birds and plants.
Besides her spouse, she leaves her loving cousin, Susan Fleet of New Orleans, La.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Bethany Church, Quincy Center, Quincy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Quincy Symphony Orchestra, P.O. Box 2, Wollaston, MA 02170 or the North Bennet Street School, 30 North Bennet St., Boston, MA 02113.

Edward S. Serwinski, 66
LAS VEGAS, NEV. -- Edward S. Serwinski, 66, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Plainville, died unexpectedly the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006.
Ed was born April 4, 1940 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 40 years, Mary Serwinski of Las Vegas, Nev.; his daughter, Laurie Serwinski of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and sons of his heart, Ken Pimental of Oakland, Calif., and Scott Shields of Arlington, Va.
Ed was a Plainville selectman from 1976 to 1982 and always held a special fondness for Plainville in his heart.
Visitation and funeral services will be held beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 10 at the Palm Mortuary -- Northwest in Las Vegas, Nev.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ed's memory to the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, 480 West Bonanza Road, Las Vegas, NV 89106.
Kevin Raymond Fitton, 62
ATTLEBORO -- Kevin Raymond Fitton, 62, of Elizabeth Street, Attleboro, died unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006. He was the beloved husband of Mae Irene (Austin) Fitton, to whom he was married on June 1, 1991.
Born in Attleboro on Oct. 21, 1943, he was a son of the late Willard Potter and Mildred Mary (Cooney) Fitton. He was raised and educated in Attleboro, where he remained a lifelong resident of the community.
Mr. Fitton was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served from April 6, 1965 until his honorable discharge on March 20, 1967, and later served with the U.S. Army Reserve program until April 5, 1971.
He was employed as a driver and dispatcher for Houle's City Cab in Attleboro for the past 20 years.
Mr. Fitton subscribed to a mantra of helping others through his volunteer activities. He was a member of the Civil Defense Corps in Attleboro for many years, was a volunteer teaching CPR for the American Red Cross in North Attleboro and Attleboro, and was a Cub Scout leader many years ago.
An ardent CB radio operator, he was a member of the local `` REACT'' club, and enjoyed times spent listening to local happenings on his home scanner and time spent on his home computer.
One of his favorite places to visit was the ocean.
In addition to his wife of 15 years, he leaves six children: John R. Fitton of Pawtucket, William R. Fitton of Attleboro, Mark E. Fitton of Attleboro, Diane M. Smith of Westport, Lisa N. Morrow of Mashpee and Carol A. Morrow of Attleboro; eight grandchildren and was expecting the arrival of his first great-grandchild.
Visitation with Veteran's honors will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, } mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a Service of Reflection by Family Members and Friends on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Ave. (exit 5 off I-95 N or S, go right at end of ramp, } mile on left), Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro.
Private burial services with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 13 in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, McArthur Boulevard, Bourne.
