Obituaries were reported for Eva Earle, 100, of North Attleboro, Carl V. DeClemente, 77, of Mansfield Eleanor I. Gordon, 86, of Mansfield, Herman Buschenfeldt, 84, of Stoughton, Edith Johnson, 94, of Medway, Helen Sartini, 90, of Pawtucket, and Leonard Gemert, 87, of Bradenton, Fla.
Eva Earle, 100NORTH ATTLEBORO -- Eva Stedman (Miller) Earle, 100, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
Eva was born in Norwood on April 7, 1906 to Charles R. and Emma (Slocomb) Miller. She was raised in Norwood and graduated from the Faulkner Hospital School of Nursing in 1933, and then began her long career as a registered nurse.
She married Clarence N. Earle on Feb. 22, 1941 in Dedham. She and her family also resided in Wrentham, from 1959 to 1966.
Eva worked for 20 years at Glover Memorial Hospital in Needham, where she gained the respect and admiration of staff and patients alike. While at Glover, she participated in the bowling league and was the columnist for the 11-7 shift's contribution to the hospital's newsletter, `` Pulsebeat,'' where she often displayed her poetic talent and wit.
Upon her retirement in 1976 at age 70, she and her husband `` Bus'' retired to Haines City, Fla., where he preceded her in death in 1982.
Eva remained in Florida and busied herself by volunteering at the Heart of Florida Hospital, and attended line dancing, aerobics and the senior olympics.
She also became active with the Haines City Baptist Church, volunteering in the church office and visiting elderly shut-ins (most of whom were younger than she) and performed in the church's Easter pageant for many years. She was renowned for her apple pies, which she baked and sold at church bazaars.
In 2004, at age 98, Eva decided to return to her native New England to live out her remaining years with her loving family. She alternated living with her son in New Hampshire and her daughter in Massachusetts until her recent illness.
She was the wife of the late Clarence N. Earle, and the sister of the late Charles A. Miller.
She is survived by her son, Steven A. Earle of Hill, N.H.; her daughter, Deborah A. Heon of North Attleboro; her sister-in-law, Dorothy (Earle) Spear of Winter Haven, Fla.; her daughter-in-law, Elaine (McPhee) Earle of Hill, N.H.; her son-in-law, Donat A. Heon of North Attleboro; and her grandchildren, Julie (Heon) Cotoia and Jeffrey Heon, both of North Providence, R.I., Tracy (Earle) McBey and Karen (Earle) Copp, both of Franklin, N.H.; as well as six adoring great-grandchildren.
Eva's great sense of humor, smiling face and compassionate, generous nature endeared her to all who met her and left a legacy of love to her family.
Eva's visiting hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols St., Norwood, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
Carl V. DeClemente, 77
MANSFIELD -- Carl V. DeClemente, 77, of Mansfield, died on Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Louise A. (Scarpellini) DeClemente, to whom he was wed on Oct. 12, 1950.
Born in Mansfield on Sept. 24, 1928, he was a loving son of the late Vincenzo E. and Madeline M. (Buratti) DeClemente.
He was educated in Mansfield schools and was a 1946 graduate of Monsignor Coyle High School in Taunton.
He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of lance corporal.
Mr. DeClemente worked as a men's clothing salesman at Filene's in Chestnut Hill for 16 years prior to retiring in 1993. He had formerly worked at DeClemente's in Mansfield, a former clothing shop which he ran with his family from 1946 until 1977.
Carl was communicant of St. Mary's Church in Mansfield. He was a member and a past grand knight of the George C. Shields Council Knights of Columbus in Mansfield. He was a former member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Mansfield and was a former member of the Mansfield Lions Club.
He was a lifelong resident of Mansfield.
He treasured the wonderful times spent with his loving family. Carl enjoyed landscaping his yard, refinishing furniture and spending time on Cape Cod.
Besides his beloved wife Louise of over 55 years, he is survived by his devoted children: Michael C. DeClemente and his wife Patricia of Billerica, and Maria L. Emery and her husband James of Raynham; his dear sisters: Mary E. DiMasi of Florida, Dora G. Cefalo of Needham and Rita I. Thornton of Blacksburg, Va.; his cherished grandchildren: Joshua DeClemente of Winchester, Jessica D. White of Taunton, Justin R. Alexander, Andrew Alexander, Lisa M. Emery and Cory J. Emery, all of Raynham, and Amanda Osborne and Brandy Osborne, both of Billerica; and is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Christopher S. White and Taylor M. White, both of Taunton, as well as several nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday, Sept. 15 at 9 a.m. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106), Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Eleanor I. Gordon, 86MANSFIELD -- Eleanor I. (Sloan) Gordon, 86, of Mansfield, died on Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Wallace J. Gordon Jr. to whom she was wed for 42 years at the time of his death in 1982.
Born in Boston on Sept. 12, 1919, she was a loving daughter of the late John B. and Irene C. (Jones) Sloan. She was educated in the Canton schools.
Mrs. Gordon was a retired packer, having worked for Swank Inc. in Taunton and Attleboro. She retired in 1990 after 31 years of faithful service. She had formerly worked at Merkens Chocolate in Mansfield for three years.
Eleanor treasured the wonderful times spent communicating with family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and attending family celebrations. She also enjoyed capturing special moments by taking pictures of her family. She was always eager to start or join in on a conversation and was an avid Patriots fan.
She had lived in Mansfield for the past 66 years.
She is survived by her devoted children: Wallace J. Gordon III and his wife Rosalie of Attleboro, Richard A. Gordon and his wife Carol of Mansfield, Janet L. Mason and her husband Pres of Palm Bay, Fla., Robert A. `` Bobby'' Gordon of Mansfield and the late Paul F. Gordon. She was the sister of the late John Sloan, Paul Sloan, Marion McLaughlin and Gertrude Weber. She was the cherished grandmother of Robert Gordon of Charlotte, N.C., Carrie Reich of North Attleboro, Michael Gordon of Attleboro, Lisa Clark of North Attleboro and Amanda Gordon of Mansfield. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Alyssa Gordon, Brett Reich, Keegan Brady, Camryn Clark and Catherine Clark, as well as her several nieces and nephews.
Prayer services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Mansfield.

Herman Buschenfeldt, 84STOUGHTON -- Herman E. Buschenfeldt, 84, of Stoughton died on Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston following a short illness. He was the husband of Lois E. (Arpin) Buschenfeldt.
Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Karl W. and Gertrude (Sieswerda) Buschenfeldt Sr.
He was a longtime resident of Stoughton, educated in the Stoughton schools. He attended both the Wentworth Institute and Northeastern University to become a certified orthotist. He continued his education in orthoties until retiring in 1998.
Mr. Buschenfeldt was a past president of Karl W. Buschenfeldt & Son, past president of the New England Orthotists & Prosthetists, director of the American Orthotists & Prosthetists Association (AOPA) and also a member of the American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a gunnery mate 2nd class and seeing action in the European Theater, the Pacific Theater and `` D-Day'' invasion of Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Navy Armed Guard, the LST Association and the Massachusetts Chapter of LSTiers.
He was also a 60-year member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Stoughton, serving on the vestry for many years, junior warden for six years, finance committee for 20 years, property committee for 35 years and senior usher for 40 years.
He also enjoyed gardening, and building ship models.
Besides his wife of 62 years, he is survived by his daughters, Karen Thompson and her husband Allen of East Bridgewater, and Joyce Costa and her husband Edward of Wrentham; and his grandchildren, Kasey Costa of Wrentham and Michael Costa and his fiancee Christina Matz of Walpole.
He was the brother of Theresa `` Rae'' Pierce of Brockton, Gertrude `` Sis'' Beaucaire of Halifax, Nancy Saunders of Cotuit, Anton Buschenfeldt of Mashpee and the late Sgt. Karl W. Buschenfeldt Jr. and Marjorie Downs.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 15 at 11 a.m. in the Trinity Episcopal Church, 414 Sumner St., Stoughton, with the Rev. Fr. Robert R.M. Bagwell officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, North Stoughton.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, Sept. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk St., Stoughton.

Edith Johnson, 94MEDWAY -- Edith Everburg Johnson, 94, of Holliston Street, Medway and a former longtime Norfolk and Walpole resident, died at the Medway Country Manor Nursing Home on Sept. 1, 2006. She was the widow of Carl E. Johnson.
Born on Dec. 12, 1911 in Norwood, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Freda (Forsberg) Everburg.
She was a Norwood High School graduate in the Class of 1929, and was a former member of the Trinity Community Church in Norwood many years ago.
A homemaker for most of her life, she had enjoyed living in Norfolk, where she had lived at the Hillcrest Village prior to moving to Medway.
She is survived by two loving daughters, Carol J. Lewin of Norfolk, and Marilyn J. Wu of Great Falls, Va.
She was dear sister of the late Sexton, William, and Greta Everburg; the devoted grandmother of four grandchildren; and great-grandmother of eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 2 p.m. in the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Rockwood Road, Norfolk.
Arrangements are in the care of the R.J. Ross Funeral Home, Wrentham Centre.
Helen Sartini, 90PAWTUCKET -- Helen L. Sartini, 90, of Dover Street, Pawtucket, died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 at the Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island in Pawtucket. She was the wife of the late Orlando `` Lindy'' Sartini.
Born in Canton, the daughter of the late Thomas and Angelina (Annese) Cirello, Helen had lived in Pawtucket since 1941.
She was a machine operator for Fram Corporation for many years.
She leaves one son, John F. Sartini and his wife Karen; one daughter, Pamela Gagnon; six grandchildren: Cameron, Jacob, Mya, and Marlena Sartini, Trent and Jase Lasher; and six great-grandchildren. She was the mother of her beloved cockatiel, PJ.
She was the mother of the late Anthony Sartini; and the sister of the late Tony, Vic, and John Cirello. Edith Annese and Ann Robinson.
Helen was always a dear friend to many.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Teresa's Church, Newport Avenue, Pawtucket on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited.
Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Arrangements are by the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home.

Leonard Gemert, 87BRADENTON, Fla. -- Leonard M. Van Gemert, 87, of Bradenton, Fla., died July 24, 2006. Mr. Van Gemert was a former resident of Mansfield.
Born in Boston, he moved to Bradenton, Fla., in 1988 from Mansfield.
He was a retired postal worker, and also retired from the U.S. Navy after serving during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam.
He attended Christ Episcopal Church and was a former member of St. John's Episcopal Church. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, DAV, Shriners, Masonic Lodge No. 99, a previous member of St. James Lodge, Scottish Rite, the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 87, and the German-American Club of Manatee, Fla.
Mr. Van Gemert was predeceased by three sons: Douglas, Leonard IV and James.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle; his son, Peter Van Gemert of Myakka City, Fla.; his daughters, Patricia Brown of Bradenton, Fla., Veronica Nye of Bremerton, Wash., Grace Duran of Attleboro and Karen Johnson of Newport News, Va.; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at St. John's Episcopal Church on High Street in Mansfield on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 11 a.m. All friends and acquaintances are invited to attend.
