Obituaries were published for James A. Lima, 51, of Attleboro; Elizabeth Frances `Betty' Cairns, 90, of Wrentham; and Mattie Mae Jackson, 57, of North Attleboro.

James A.Lima, 51

ATTLEBORO -- James A Lima, 51, of Simpson Avenue, South Attleboro, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2006 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.

He was born in Attleboro on Sept. 18, 1954, a son of Antonio C. and Louise M. (Ramos) Lima of South Attleboro. He was a lifelong Attleboro resident and a communicant of St. Stephen's Church in Attleboro.

He had served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a medic in the Airborne Rangers and the Green Beret Special Forces. He was the leader of the former Junior Naval Cadets of Attleboro and a member of the Gilbert Perry Post VFW and the American Legion. He had owned and operated the former South East Security Company of Attleboro for 12 years until 1998, and had pursued a nursing career until the time of his death.

Besides his parents, he leaves one brother, Steven A. Lima of South Attleboro; one niece, Sabrina Lima; and two nephews, Nikolas and Joshua Lima.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m. from the Foley-Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St. (Route 152), Attleboro, followed at 10 by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Stephen's Church, 683 South Main St., in the Village of Dodgeville in Attleboro.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the family lot in St. Stephen's Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may visit from 9 a.m. in the Foley Chapel until the time of Mass.

Elizabeth Frances `Betty' Cairns, 90

WRENTHAM -- Elizabeth Frances `` Betty'' Cairns, 90, of East Street, Wrentham, died on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006 at the Serenity Hill Nursing Home in Wrentham.

She was the widow of Robert H. Cairns, who predeceased her on Aug. 7, 1996.

Born in Wrentham on June 4, 1916, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Sara (Bliek) Peck. She was a graduate of the former Wrentham Centre School, Class of 1934. A retired self-employed insurance agent, she had operated the business out of her Wrentham home. She worked for a number of years in the cafeteria at the King Philip Regional High School, and had previously owned and operated a hairdressing shop in Foxboro.

Active in town and civic affairs, she is well known for her presence at the elections where she had been a teller for many years. An always willing volunteer, she had worked in the gift shop of the former Southwood Community Hospital in Norfolk and at the Wrentham Senior Center, where she manned the phone for the senior assurance line.

She was a member of the Saint Mary's Women's Club, and a former member of the Sohoanno Garden Club in Wrentham.

She was the loving mother of Roberta A. E. Cairns of Wrentham, and was the dear extended family member to Carl and Sandra Fumarola, their children Theresa and Philip Matyi, Carl E. and Kristin Fumarola, and Theresa and Phil's children Jake and Nicholas Matyi.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South St., Route 1A, Wrentham Centre, today from 4 to 8 p.m.

Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 9 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 140 South St., Route 1A, Wrentham Centre.

Burial will follow in the Wrentham Centre Cemetery.

Mattie Mae Jackson, 57

NORTH ATTLEBORO -- Mattie Mae (Dolby) Jackson, 57, of Broadway, North Attleboro, died unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 at her residence following a long health battle. She was the wife of Danuel E. Jackson to whom she was married on Dec. 19, 1978.

Born in Sterling, Va. on May 19, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Walter C. Dolby Sr. and Mattie E. (Delp) Dolby. She was a lifelong resident of Virginia until she moved to North Attleboro last year.

Until illness many years ago, Mrs. Jackson was employed as a secretary and office manager in Virginia.

Always eager to start or join a conversation, she treasured the times spent communicating with family and friends and even her beloved dog, `` Humphrey.''

Before losing her own eyesight, she taught Braille and was the recipient of several awards in Virginia for her volunteer activities. including awards from the Commonwealth of Virginia State Police and was invited to the governor's mansion for a special dinner recognizing her accomplishments.

In addition to her husband of 27 years, she leaves four sons: Jonathon Bruce `` J.B.'' Alderman of Delray, W. Va., Walter T. Alderman of Stephen City, Va.; David E. Jackson of North Attleboro and Michael W. Jackson of Clifton, Va.; 11 grandchildren; three sisters: Helen Kifer of Morefield, W. Va., Janet Osborne of Dallas, N.C. and Rita Mullens of Pound, Va.; a brother, Walter C. `` Junior'' Dolby Jr. of Middletown, Va. and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mildred Mullins.

Visitation and funeral services will be held in Herndon, Va. under the direction of the Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden Street, Herndon, Va.
