NORTON -- The North Easton Savings Bank on Route 123 was robbed Thursday -- the second area bank robbed in less than a week.
The robbery occurred about 11:30 a.m., when a man passed a teller a note demanding cash, Detective Sgt. Brian Clark said. No weapon was shown.
The robber sped away from the bank at 25 West St. near Route 140 with an undetermined amount of money.
Clark described the robber as a white man about 6 feet tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with blond or light brown hair.
He was wearing a baseball-type cap and a blue hooded sweatshirt.
No one was injured, although `` the teller was a little shaken up from the incident,'' Clark said.
The bank reopened for business within two hours of the robbery.
Investigators are exploring whether the holdup is connected with the robbery Sunday of the Citizens Bank on Route 1A in South Attleboro, Clark said.
In that case, a lone robber fled with an undetermined amount of cash after passing a note to a teller.
After viewing surveillance photographs of the Citizens Bank holdup, investigators said that the robber bore a strong resemblance to a man sought in an even earlier robbery in Easton.
The robber in the South Attleboro case was described as a white man about 30 years old who was 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall.
He was wearing a Dallas Cowboys baseball-type, a white pullover shirt and dark full-length pants.
Thursday's robbery in Norton is being investigated by Clark, Detectives Jacob Dennett and Todd Bramwell and Patrolman Scott Sweeting.
Thursday's robbery was the first in Norton since July 18, when the North Easton Savings Bank branch on Route 140 was hit.
