Police: Man tied up boy, exposed himself

ATTLEBORO - A Raynham man pleaded innocent Monday in Attleboro District Court to tying up a 12-year-old boy with rope while he watched pornography and exposed himself to the youth.

Andrew F. Karklin, 40, was ordered held in jail on $5,000 cash bail after arraignment on charges of enticing a child under 16, showing obscene matter harmful to a minor and indecent exposure, according to court records.

Karklin was babysitting for the boy in North Attleboro on Wednesday when the alleged incident occurred. The mother of the boy reported it to police the following day, according to police.

Karklin was arrested Friday after an investigation by detectives Lt. David Dawes and John Reilly and Patrolman Craig Jones. Investigator Thomas Carroll of the Bristol County district attorney's office assisted.

His lawyer could not be reached for comment. If Karklin should post bail, Judge Robert E. Baylor ordered him to stay away from and have no contact with the alleged victim.

He is due back in court Jan. 8 for a pretrial hearing.
