Deadly month on our roads

SHARON - The Foxboro man who died when his car rolled over on Interstate 95 early Friday evening was the fifth person to die on area roads this month.
State police have identified Thomas W. Johnson, 53, of Foxboro as the victim. State police did not release Johnson's address Saturday.
However, a 2005 Foxboro street listing has a Thomas W. Johnson, 53, at 25 Elm St., Unit 10.
Friday's crash happened about 6 p.m. on I-95 heading south, north of Mechanic Street in Sharon, north of the Foxboro line.
According to the preliminary state police report, Johnson lost control of a 1996 Buick Century in the middle lane of I-95 as he was driving south.
Johnson's car rolled onto its roof off the highway after striking a guardrail on the left shoulder and crossing all lanes of traffic.
Johnson, who was wearing his seat belt, was seriously injured. He was pronounced dead at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
State police continue investigating the crash.
December became a deadly month on local roads.
On Dec. 2, Rose Shatz, 10, was killed when a truck struck her on her bicycle just a few feet from her home on Willow Street in Foxboro. A Mansfield police officer faces a motor vehicle homicide charge and other complaints in the accident.
On Dec. 15, George D. Ringuette, 57, of South Attleboro, was killed when he was struck by a vehicle while walking across a dangerous stretch of Route 1 in front of Luciano's in Wrentham. No charges are believed to have been filed against the driver.
On Dec. 21, Jeffrey W. Cardin, 48, of Millis, was struck by a car while walking on Shears Street in Wrentham. A Norfolk teenager has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident after causing personal injury, death resulting.
On Wednesday, Michael Leonard, 52, of Pawtucket, was killed and two other people were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Route 1 in front of Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.
