NORTON - Police recovered more than $20,000 worth of jewelry and electronics from an Attleboro apartment and are charging a suspect they say is linked to over a dozen housebreaks on Cape Cod, at least three in Norton and a jewelry heist in Vermont.
Nicholas Blagojevic, 27, of 121 County St., Attleboro, faces charges of breaking and entering and larceny in three Norton housebreaks and remains under investigation for other burglaries in Norton, Attleboro, North Attleboro and on Cape Cod, state and local police say.
Blagojevic's first-floor apartment in Attleboro was searched by Norton and Attleboro police last week after his arrest in connection with a jewelry store robbery last week in Vermont.
Blagojevic has been under investigation since November for at least five housebreaks in Norton, including three on consecutive days in December. Jewelry, computers, TVs, gift cards, computer games and cameras were stolen, according to police.
Detective Sgt. Brian Clark said Friday police have obtained warrants charging Blagojevic with three housebreaks in Norton after jewelry recovered at his apartment and other evidence linked him to the crimes. The other burglaries remain under investigation.
Police say the green 1993 Ford Taurus with a Vermont license plate registered to his girlfriend was seen by witnesses Dec. 27 in the driveway of one Norton housebreak on Oak Street, according to records filed in Attleboro District Court.
Police say they are sifting through almost 100 pieces of jewelry and electronic devices and are trying to determine where other stolen items were sold.
Blagojevic remains in jail with his girlfriend, Allison Martino, 21, and a friend, Wesley Rose, 26. All were living at Blagojevic's apartment and were ordered held in jail without bail as fugitives in connection with the Vermont jewelry store holdup.
The car was seized by police after it was stopped Jan. 25 in North Attleboro after Blagojevic, Martino and Rose were allegedly driving home from Vermont, according to police.
A cell phones, gift cards, sunglasses, a crow bar and clothing were found inside during a search of the vehicle, according to court records. A large bag of jewelry found on Martino was linked the Vermont robbery, police said.
Trooper John Mawn, a detective with the Cape Cod Drug Task Force, and Harwich Detective Robert Brackett said Blagojevic is a suspect in 12 housebreaks in Harwich but has not yet been charged.
According to court records, police allege the Harwich victims are all friends and former surrogate families of Blagojevic. Police allege Blagojevic is a self-admitted crack addict.
During the investigation, Brackett obtained court approval to place a high-tech tracking device on Martino's Ford Taurus.
Police were tracking the vehicle at the time of the Vermont robbery, and notified authorities about the time the robbery occurred, according to court records. The device enabled police to finally stop the car as it entered North Attleboro.
Martino and Rose agreed last week to return with Vermont authorities to face charges in connection to the jewelry store robbery, but Blagojevic declined and is due back in Attleboro District Court Feb. 13.
