MANSFIELD - A federal child pornography probe has led agents to investigate former longtime Mansfield teacher Joseph Pfeil, according to published reports.

Pfeil, now the principal of Milford's Middle School East, has not been charged, The Milford Daily News reported. However, Milford Superintendent Thomas Davoren placed him on administrative leave with pay on Thursday.

Pfeil taught in Mansfield for 23 years, including at Qualters Middle School, before leaving the town's schools during the mid-1990s.

Pfeil reportedly lives in North Providence, R.I. Directory assistance did not have a listing for him Saturday night.

The FBI seized three computers from Pfeil's office at the Milford middle school Thursday, the Daily News reported. "There are no allegations, there's no investigation related to any improprieties with kids, parents (or) staff in Milford," Davoren told the Daily News.

"It seems to be an Internet situation. I can think that's the only reason they want the computers out of his office."
