Citizens can keep track of how much money their state legislators are raising and who is contributing to them by checking the Web site for the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
It takes just a few clicks of the mouse to find out how much money they have taken in and how much they have spent.
1) Go to www.mass.gov/ocpf.
2) Click on campaign finance reports.
3) Click on searchable database of campaign finance activity.
4) Click on view reports.
5) Click on candidates.
6) Fill in the candidate's last name, the office he or she is running for, the district he or she is running in, then hit search.
The report will appear with a summary cover sheet and separate pages for donations, expenditures and liabilities.
Locally, state Rep. Jay Barrows, R-Mansfield, is in the 1st Bristol District. Rep. John Lepper, R-Attleboro, is in the 2nd Bristol District. Rep. Steve D'Amico, D-Rehoboth, is in the 4th Bristol.
State Rep. Richard Ross, R-Wrentham, represents the 9th Norfolk District and Rep. Betty Poirier, R-North Attleboro, is in the 14th Bristol.
In the Senate, Sen. James Timilty, D-Walpole, represents the Bristol, Norfolk District and Sen. Scott Brown, R-Wrentham, is in the Norfolk, Bristol, Middlesex District.
Candidates for municipal offices such as mayor, city councilor, selectman and school committee also must file campaign finance reports, but they are not available online.
Citizens must go to their city or town hall to read the reports.
They are usually filed with the town clerk or the election office.
