Jail for 4 in drug theft

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Four people involved in breaking into an alleged drug dealer's home and assaulting him in a drug-related crime last year on Dexter Street, pleaded guilty Friday in New Bedford Superior Court.

Francesco Guardione, 20, of Canton, Janet A. Kingsbury, 20, of Canton; Robert Wicks, 25, of Norwood, and Pedro Valerio, 19, of Stamford, Conn. were given one-year jail sentences followed by three years' probation.

All four pleaded guilty to breaking and entering, larceny from a person, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon: a knife and assault and battery, said Lisa Rowell, a spokeswoman for Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter.

The defendants were arrested last May after Justin Reardon, 21, of 13 Dexter St., North Attleboro, told police he was robbed May 22 by three men in ski masks soon after Guardione and Kingsbury left the apartment, according to police.

Guardione knew Reardon from prior alleged drug deals, police said. Police said the incident was sparked by a drug deal that had gone bad in Brockton, prompting Guardione to seek revenge after he lost $2,700 in the alleged deal.

Two of the masked men were identified as Wicks, Kingsbury's boyfriend, and Valerio. The third individual was never identified, according to police.

After forcing their way into the apartment, Reardon was beaten and slashed with a knife. Taken from his apartment were $10,000 cash and two pounds of marijuana, police said.

Reardon called 911 for help and was later arrested on drug charges by police after an investigation by detectives Michael Elliott, Daniel Arrighi and Lt. David Dawes.

His case is still pending.

The prosecutor handing the case was Garrett Fregault.
