Teen prank leads to arrests

ATTLEBORO - Police say an early morning robbery of fast food at the drive-through window at Wendy's in Mansfield over the weekend has landed two Foxboro High School seniors - both student athletes - in court.

Nicholas Britton, 18, of 3 Joanna Drive, and Christopher Redd, 18, of 30 Carmine Ave., both of Foxboro, were arraigned Monday in Attleboro District Court on related charges and were released without bail.

Britton faces unarmed robbery, assault and disorderly charges; Redd was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and being a minor in possession of alcohol, according to court records. The incident was reported at 12:44 a.m. Saturday.

Britton allegedly stole a bag of food at the drive-through window as the clerk was handing it to another customer, then climbed into Redd's car.

The suspects were arrested in the parking lot by officers Jeffrey Danner and Kenneth Wright. Detective Sgt. Sam Thompson, the police court prosecutor, said the clerk twisted her arm during the incident.

According to court records, Redd took a breath-alcohol test which revealed his blood alcohol level was 0.13 percent. The legal limit in Massachusetts is 0.08 percent.

Both Britton and Redd were linemen on the Foxboro High School Warriors football team. Britton also participates in track and Redd is on the school wrestling team. Redd is due back in court on June 15, and Britton is due back in court on April 23.

" i cant believe that you people have nothing better to do than talk about two kids you dont even know, you are just jelouse that your kids cant add up to half that young-men that redd and britton really are. i know them personally and i am insulted that you accuse them to living up to the stereotypes and reputations that the minority of foxboro students have made for their community. you cant identfy a town by just what you read in the news papers, they only write about the bad things that happen just so you wil read. this article only gives half the facts of the total police report and the writer of this report is a disgrace to journalism. all of you should be ashamed of yourselves and if you only knew of the great things these young men have done for the cummunity!!!! "

" I love how this article calls unarmed robbery a prank. These kids disgust me. Hopefully the Attleboro District Court gives them much harsher penalties than Foxboro HS does. It's time to wake up- you will never play HS football again- no one cares about you anymore. "

" A little correction, being under 21, the legal limit is actually .02, which means Redd was 6.5 times the limit. "

" At the very least, these kids should be made to do Community Service at that Wendy's which should include the dirtiest jobs that management can find for them to do. "
