NA police want your help to ID body found

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Police are seeking the public's help in identifying the remains of a man who is believed to have committed suicide deep in the woods in the Adamsdale section of town.

Detective Lt. David Dawes said the body is of a white man who is about 40 to 50 years old and about 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 7 inches tall. The man had a goatee and long brownish-gray hair down to the back of his neck.

Police estimated the man's weight at 140 to 150 pounds. He was wearing a bright green skully cap, a blue-green windbreaker and blue sweat pants, and had a pair of black gloves in his pocket.

There was no identification on the body. Anyone with any information is urged to call police at 508-695-1212.

The body was found about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday deep in the woods off Grand View Drive near the South Attleboro and Rhode Island border by a man walking his dog with his son, Dawes said. No foul play is suspected.

The body is estimated to have been in the woods for about four to six weeks, based on its stage of decomposition.

Police have contacted area police departments and are searching through missing persons reports, but so far have come across no leads, Dawes said. The body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy.

Investigating are local detectives and state police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
