Brockton Rox Game day Picnic/Extra Innings Clinic: Extra Innings will be conducting a 1 hour clinic for your child. Immediately after the clinic we will all depart for Campanelli Stadium in Brockton and be the guests of honor at a game day picnic put on by the Brockton Rox. During the game we will be mentioned on the P.A. system, recognizing our group. This is an opportunity to be coached by some of the top collegiate coaches in southeastern Massachusetts. In addition to individual, positional and team instruction, demonstrations and game experience will be featured. The camp can accomodate overnight guests at $390 for the session. BASKETBALL Registration is underway for the 19th Annual Summer Basketball School at Bishop Feehan. Instruction is provided over three weeks for boys and girls in grades 1-9 under the direction of former Shamrock basketball coaches Leo Charron and Ed Gagnon. The camp is for youths of all levels of ability, novice, intermediate,and advanced. The camp for girls in grades 5-9 will be held July 16-20 and will run from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. daily. The boys' camp for those in grades 5-9 will be held July 23-27 from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. daily. The fee for each camp is $195. The camp for boys and girls in grades 1-4 will meet July 30-Aug 3 from 8:30am until noon. The registration fee is $135. Family discount programs are available. Registration is underway for the USA boys' basketball National Qualifying Tournament June 16-17 at the Mansfield Sports Complex. Teams in divisions from grades 5-through-11 can qualify for the USSSA National Tournament. There will also be a 12th-grade and an open division, which will play for a state title. The entry fee is $375 per team and all teams are guaranteed three games.The top two teams from each division qualify for the National Tournament. Box 839, E. Hampsteady, NH, 03826. FOOTBALL The Bombardier Blue Pride Football Camp will be held in two sessions this summer at Tozier-Cassidy Field on the campus of Attleboro High School. The first session will run from July 9-13 for players heading into grades four through eight. The second session will take place from July 30-August 3 for youngsters heading into the ninth and 10th grades. The camp director is Attleboro High head football coach Kevin Deschenes with the camp staff consisting of Attleboro High football coaches, captains and players. During those two weeks, the camp will be held Monday through Friday and will run each day from 8:30 a.m. to Noon. As far as a registration fee, there is an early sign-up discount of $60 if you register prior to May 1. After May 1, the registration fee is $80. Players are required to bring shorts, tee-shirt and cleats or sneakers (if it is raining). A water bottle and mouth piece is also recommended to be brought by each player. The Massachusetts Independent Football Officials Association announces its spring class for new candidates beginning May 16 and running on consecutive Wednesdays through June 13, with an exam on June 20. Classes will be held at 7:15 p.m. at the Mansfield Elks Club, 140 North Main Street, Mansfield. Successful candidates will be eligible to officiate Pop Warner and all levels of high school football, and you will be prepared for the upcoming season. There is a fee of $60 for the class.
