ATTLEBORO - City pound volunteer and dog groomer trainee Deanna McKenna says she's looking to put a little polish on the animal shelter's dogs and cats.
McKenna began bringing home animals to bathe, so pets up for adoption at the pound would feel better and be more likely to get new owners.
"It's good experience for me, and I figure these animals need TLC just like any other pet," she said.
McKenna hosted her first canine "customer" last week.
McKenna, an office worker, is planning to change careers and become a professional pet groomer. She's already enrolled in a certificate training program.
McKenna has worked as a pound volunteer for the past eight months.
