FRANKLIN - A new racquet and a new day resulted in a pair of key victories for the King Philip Regional High boys' tennis team in a 3-2 verdict over Mansfield High Thursday in a Hockomock League match at Dean College.

KP's No. 2 singles player Harrison David arrived with a new racquet and lost just three games to Mansfield's Will Condon in winning his match. KP's No. 1 doubles team of sophomores Jake Archibald and Alex Huth avenged a straight set, 22-game loss to Mansfield's Mark Capitanio and Andrew Colwell, winning a decisive, straight-set match, losing just four games.

Brett Goverman carved out a 21-game victory over KP's Duncan Yarworth in the feature No. 1 singles match. KP (12-5, 11-5), which avenged a 3-2 loss at Mansfield earlier in the season, is off until a non-league match Tuesday at Ashland. The Hornets (13-4) are off until a non-league match Thursday at Milton.

The MIAA Tournament-bound Bombardiers of ATTLEBORO (10-5, 5-2) dealt Dartmouth a 4-1 setback as sophomore No. 3 singles player Chris Gulino secured a three-set victory, taking the third set 6-2. James Bensson lost just five games in taking his No. 1 singles match for AHS, while Craig Eastman and Mark Morin won a 22-game, straight set match at No. 1 doubles for the second team point. The Bombardiers entertain Seekonk Monday.

Mike McGee pulled out a three-set victory at the No. 2 singles spot, winning the decisive third set 6-1 to give BISHOP FEEHAN (11-1) its decisive third team point in a 3-2 decision at Latin Academy. Elias Chahine lost just one game in taking his No. 3 singles match for the Shamrocks, who next meet Somerset Monday. Three of the five matches went to three sets as DIGHTON-REHOBOTH downed SEEKONK 3-2 in the renewal of their South Coast Conference rivalry. It came down to No. 2 doubles, where the Falcons' Greg Mihailides and Jake Woodard outlasted Seekonk's Nick Caron and Ryan Meunier 6-7 (7-5 tiebreaker), 6-4, 6-4. D-R (8-5, 8-4) is idle until May 26 at home against Somerset. Seekonk visits Attleboro Monday.

Kevin Fisher and Pat Hillman won their respective No. 2 and 3 singles matches in hard-earned straight set victories to give NORTON (7-10, 5-10) a 3-2 decision over Hopkinton in a Tri-Valley League match. Fisher won a pair of 6-3 sets, while Hillman was stretched to 21 games in taking his match. Norton visits Ashland Monday.
