Norton topples Hillers




NORTON - After a shaky start, Alicia Parlon was practically untouchable off the Norton High pitching rubber Thursday.

The Lancers' pitcher surrendered four runs (two earned) in the second inning of the Tri-Valley League game against Hopkinton, but the Hillers never scored another run as the Lancers emerged victorious by a 9-4 score.

Norton struck back for a game-tying four runs in the bottom of the second as Casey Remick (RBI double), Parlon and Jordan Cutting (RBI singles) came up with the big hits. Then, in the fifth, Brittany Walsh stroked a two-run triple to give Norton the lead to stay.

Norton (15-2, 15-1) visits Ashland Monday night.

Dartmouth 5, Attleboro 3 DARTMOUTH - Three times the Bombardiers of Attleboro High took the lead, but the Indians rallied for three runs on three hits in the fifth inning to win the Old Colony League game. Caitlin Montella, Ashley Sanford and Devin Azulay each had two hits for AHS (4-14, 2-5) which has just two games remaining, the next being Tuesday at Barnstable.

Seekonk 13, Fairhaven 3

SEEKONK - Freshman Kristin Chauvin drove in four runs with two hits, while Kelsey Killian collected three hits and three RBI as the Warriors kept their post-season hopes alive with a victory over Fairhaven in a South Coast Conference game.

Kayleigh Medeiros and Lauren Medeiros each had two hits and two RBI for the Warriors (8-9), who next visit Fairhaven Saturday.

Seekonk used six hits in the first inning to score six runs. Lauren Medeiros stroked a two-run double and Killian had a two-run single to put the Warriors on top. Seekonk added three runs in both the second and sixth innings.

Old Colony 3-11, Tri-County 2-0

ROCHESTER - Jessica Lewis performed well as Tri-County dropped a doubleheader to Old Colony in a pair of Mayflower League games.

Old Colony won the first game, 3-2, and the second, 11-0. Both games went five innings.

In the first game, Tri-County took a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the second inning on an RBI double by Chelsea Johnson. Old Colony scored twice in the bottom of the second to take a 2-1 lead.

The visitors tied the game with a run in the top of the fourth. Lisa Fontaine scored on a fielder's choice by Haley Johnson. Old Colony took the lead for good at 3-2 with a run in the bottom of the fourth.
