Fifth title for KP girls




FRANKLIN - Maeghan Ross scored four goals in the second half as the King Philip High girls' lacrosse team earned its fifth consecutive Hockomock League Championship with a hard-fought 11-3 victory over Franklin in a league match on Thursday night.

The Warriors took a 4-2 lead at the half. Mary Pasquantonio led the way in the first half with two goals, but suffering a serious ankle injury, which may keep her out of the King Philip for some time.

Ross scored four times in the second half as the Warriors outscored the Panthers 7-1 in the session. Kerri Eaton also contributed three goals and one assist in the match, while Kendall Harty and Meg Herrick each scored a goal for the victors. Katie Florence was a standout in net once again for the Warriors as she made a total of 16 saves.

Along with winning its fifth straight league title, King Philip also now had a 45-match winning streak in the league and is 62-0-1 in its last 63 matches within the league. The Warriors, now 15-1 overall and 10-0 in the league, will host Canton in a league contest on Monday afternoon.

Abington boys 11,
North Attleboro 5 ABINGTON - Kyle Bainton had three goals and one assist as the Rocketeers fell to the Wave in a non-league match.

Abington held a one-goal lead at the half, 5-4, but outscored North 6-1 in the second half for the margin of victory.

Scott Macedonio also had two goals and one assist for the Rocketeers, while Dan Reiffarth made 16 saves on 41 shots in net. North Attleboro, now 1-13 overall, will travel to Franklin for a Hockomock match on Monday afternoon.

Tri-County boys 10,
Lynn Tech 3

FRANKLIN - Tri-County's offense kept control of the ball in the second half as a 4-3 lead blossomed ionto a six-goal margin of victory.

Mike Cavanaugh and Brendon Clist scored three goals apiece and Chris Coffey two for the Cougars. That trio combined for six assists.

John Bowman turned away six Lynn Tech shots in the Tri-County net, but didn't face a single shot in the second half.

T-C (7-10) travels to Minuteman Tech in Lexington today.
