Top Headlines Former North Attleboro High Rocketeer Justin Parr was named the MVP of the NCAA Division III Regional Tournament-qualifying Westfield State (20-17) baseball team and selected to the All-MASCAC Team for the third straight season. The senior shortstop, batting No. 2 in the order, hit at a .324 rate and had a team-best 12 stolen bases and 13 sacrifice bunts. "Justin has great bat control," said coach Ray Arra. "He's also a great fielder. I think he's one of the best infielder in all of New England" ... Bishop Feehan High senior Darcy Demers, the Shamrocks' reigning No. 1 singles player the past four seasons and defending MIAA Singles Tournament champion, will be attending Sacred Heart University in Connecticut. Demers has won three rounds thus far in the MIAA Singles Tournament, reaching the round of the Elite Eight Saturday at Old Rochester. The Shamrocks' No. 1 doubles team of Amanda Pope and Cathy Barrett, who have won four matches thus far, in the Doubles Tournament, will be there as well ... Community Field will be the site for the Hockomock League all-star baseball game Monday evening, the first pitch at 7 p.m. ... Norton High senior John Norcott won the 18-and-under New England Power Lifting Championship this past weekend, and received the outstanding lifter for the whole competition. He squatted 600 pounds, dead-lifted 540 and benchpressed a total of 3,435 pounds ... Attleboro High product Lakisha Leach, the sophomore outfielder for the Becker College softball team (4-20) was named to the North Atlantic Conference all-star team, leading the league in hitting with a .511 average and having an .830 slugging percentage ... Former Foxboro High three-sport standout Brittany Jamieson was named the Freshman Female Athlete of the Year at Worcester State College after the soccer and lacrosse seasons. However, her rookie lax season was cut short as she tore an ACL in late April and will undergo surgery in June, thus likely to be out for the soccer season for the Lancers ... "He's been great, he's made so many game-saving like catches for us," said Foxboro High baseball coach Glen Conlon of Warrior senior centerfielder Stephon Neville. "And he has some pop in his bat, we've been using him either in the leadoff spot or at No. 9" ... With North Attleboro High's Justin Graham, Seekonk High's Tyler Patch, Bishop Feehan's Dave Simmons and Attleboro High's Allen Leach on the roster, the New England Warriors (currently 10-4) took the nationally-ranked New York City Broncos down to the final minute of the Commotion by the Ocean AAU Tournament at Rhode Island College. North Attleboro sharpshooters Rick Fesik and Rick Patch are coaching the team ... Ithaca College seniors Justin Brunell of Rehoboth, via Bishop Feehan High, was named one of two Empire 8 Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete award recipients, the first Ithaca athlete ever to be so honored. Brunell, captain of the football team and a two-time Empire 8 all-star, made 21 straight starts at offensive center and is a five-time Empire 8 Presidents' List and five-time Dean's List honoree ... Seekonk's own Ken Ryan is playing for the Oil Can Boyd Traveling Baseball All-Stars ... Former King Philip High tri-sport star Jackie Olson, the senior captain and holder of the No. 6 seat on the NCAA Division 3 Championship-bound varsity eight crew team, was one of two Bates College rowers named to the Coaches Association All-America Team ... Bishop Feehan High product John McCoy was named to the MIAA All-Conference Track and Field Team after throwing the javelin 197 feet and finishing fifth at the conference championship meet, his only competitive meet of the year, he is a sophomore at Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, Mo. ... John Warren's once-beaten Bishop Feehan High junior varsity softball team (heading into today's game at North Attleboro) has received a pair of no-hitters from pitcher Kayla Holland, against Seekonk and a perfect game against Somerset.
